Due to massive staff cuts caused by Trump, BLS has to guess, makeup 29% of data to fill in missing data

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) isn’t just a measure of inflation, it directly impacts Social Security checks, mortgage, federal aid, business contracts, and worker pay. It’s foundational to understanding how the economy is working for everyday Americans. But now? It’s becoming far less accurate.

Due to staffing shortages caused by the Trump administration, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has significantly increased its reliance on “imputations”, statistical guesswork used to fill in gaps where real data is missing. In some major cities, they’ve stopped collecting data altogether.

In April 2025, nearly 29% of price data was imputed. That’s almost one-third of our inflation data based on estimates, not actual numbers.

Trump and his goons, including Commerce Secretary Lutnick and that Labor Secretary twat Chavez-DeRemer who doesn’t know her ass from a hole in the ground, control all data coming out of the government.

Trust at your own peril.

I’m guessing that’s higher than normal, but was wondering what the average is.

The people at the BLS would be making noise if malfeasance was happening.

Trump is harming the economy severely, just takes longer than people realize for that to show up in the monthly numbers.

And keep in mind, these were bad numbers today, but not terrible as expected, but every month removed from the Biden economy we get, Trump will get more blame. If these numbers were terrible today, Trump and his media would have blamed Biden, that won't be so easy in the coming months.
