It is not retroactive. It only applies to children born on or after February 19, 2025. Both Trump and his father were born well before that.

I read many years before dumpy ran for pres, that his grandfather was one of the architects of the notsee movement. Since dump’s rise to power, I have not been able to find that again.

This was a much bigger slap in Trumps face than reminding him of his families immigrant roots. Fred Trump fled Germany to avoid military service and I believe faced criminal charges if he ever returned.

It took about 4 years to notice who he was, investigate, and go through the legal proceedings. He'd had dual citizenship, but he was eventually stripped of his German citizenship and ordered to leave the country.
