Noticed a lot of haze lately? Yeah, that's Canada on fire. I was talking to a friend who lives in northern Alberta today and jokingly asked her if her neighbors had stopped smoking yet as the fumes were reaching us here in VA. She said that the fire that was practically on her doorstep was out (she lives about an hour north of Edmonton) but that "Saskatchewan and Manitoba are basically on fire". I saw some photos from there a couple of days ago and she sent me this today:

Just when she thought she was safe!
Scary times for folks up there. At least, unlike Putin (whose Siberia has been on fire for 5 years), their PM doesn't have all the firefighters fighting a stupid war someplace, but they are spread thin. And the prairie provinces are FLAT, so not much stopping the fires. Please send prayers, good vibes, whatever you have, to the folks up there. Evacuees are mostly living in their cars or in tents now because the hotels are full.

Being from Montana, I have some empathy for the wildfire problem.

And Beth, the friend I was talking to, had to evacuate a couple of weeks ago. Not to mention her dad is in hospital there with dementia and cancer that has metastasized to his brain.
