Actually in this instance it is Trump who is shooting himself in the foot.
Since the space shuttle was decommissioned, only two crafts can get to the space station ( that is if you dont count the Russian soyus capsules ) , the Boeing one which failed a few months ago and spaceX dragon.
If dragon is out of the picture, our people are stuck on the space station.
