Politico Nonsense: Dems eye a villain-to-ally arc for Musk

Did a quick search and didn't see this in GD yet.

Dems eye a villain-to-ally arc for Musk
https://www.politico.com/newsletters/west-wing-playbook-remaking-government/2025/06/04/dems-eye-a-villain-to-ally-arc-for-musk-00385945#:~:text=ELON%20MUSK%20has%20been%20the,that%20could%20benefit%20the%20opposition.

They are insane - and there is no way the base is going to accept a Nazi Loving asshole who hates black people welcomed into the fold. The tent ain't THAT big!

ELON MUSK has been the Democratic Party’s boogeyman since shortly after President DONALD TRUMP deputized him as a top adviser.

But the billionaire’s recent breaks with the GOP — Musk ripped Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” as a “disgusting abomination” on X this week and threatened to “fire all politicians” who backed it — are complicating the party’s portrayal of him as a chainsaw-wielding, bureaucracy-breaking villain.

A few Democrats are eager to welcome Musk, who said he voted for former President JOE BIDEN in 2020 and gave a tour of SpaceX to then-President BARACK OBAMA, back into the fold.

Rep. RO KHANNA (D-Calif.), who represents Silicon Valley and has known Musk for over a decade, said Democrats should “be in a dialogue” with Musk, given their shared opposition to the GOP’s megabill.

Others name dropped:
Richie Torres - He basically just killed his Gubernatorial bid.
Liam Kerr - of course” Democrats should, ahem, welcome Musk back into the party.
Brad Schneider

As usual Politico makes it an argument about Moderates and Leftists - when in fact might actually be an argument between the CURRENT base and those who want to welcome Incels (they are Musk devotees).

Musk has a problem with the bill, not because of it being bad, but because of it not being awful enough. It doesn't devastate working people, minorities, children, women, and immigrants enough for Musk. He really wants to see more people die and more people ruined.

Is why I consider Politico the Mainstream Media. The headline doesn't even clearly state the VERY small number of Democratic party members saying this.

Like Trump, he will lie and exaggerate and befriend only to the point that it benefits eLoon. After that, all bets are off and its the next bad idea and alliances he will bring forth. I pity his children.

6. Musk is sore that the politicians he bought didn't stay bought.

He's still a fascist wannabe oligarch, and now that he has fallen out with MAGA (for now), he's looking for new politicians to buy.

7. Sounds like a great way to destroy the credibility of a political party, forever.

Craven, opportunistic, weak, pathetic and antithetical to everything it claimed itself to be.

Good thing it's only a couple of clowns advocating this.

Got to believe that Politico, being the hacks that they are, are distorting the whole situation. This strikes me as more stirring up shit for clicks, and another attempt to divide Democrats.

Ro Khanna being the prime example, and they will try to bring him in...

But I think he has burned his welcome with 99% of them.

But, exploiting the rift between him and Trump and using it to fracture MAGA is something everyone should be interested in.

Not sure how, and this may be a situation where you sit aside and watch two ass holes destroy each other.

There’s definitely no one to root for here.

Is and has always been an opportunistic ass hole. He’s just a smarter, ketamine fueled South African version.

Allying with a man giving Nazi salutes is insane. Great way to get burned.
