Trump goes missing while his minions loot the countryside
By BRIAN KAREM
White House columnist
Sounds promising, right? And Karem has proven to be a reputable, dependable journalist. Then I got to THIS paragraph:
And maybe I overreacted, but I had to call "bullshit."
IF THE ALLEGATIONS about Musk's drug abuse are accurate...Ketamine, Ecstasy, Mushrooms, Adderall...all carried in a convenient little stash box that's been seen by a number of Trump cabinet insiders...this guy had direct, hands-on access to the nation's most closely guarded data, and I think it's not too "tinfoil hat" to think he might have made a copy for himself.
And make NO MISTAKE...the only time Musk ISN'T kissing Trump's ass is when Trump's bill wants to deep-six the electric vehicle credit, a big source of Musk's wealth.
Saying that Dems "defecated on Musk" because he doesn't kiss Trump's ass 100% of the time is, to me, irresponsible journalism and a tragically faulty conclusion at best.
And I do know that DUers ARE discerning when it comes to media sources. I'm referring to the general public, who may take all of this in at face value, which is how Republicans win.

(42 posts)The harm that Musk and Vought are doing to this country is incalculable. I dont believe the latest pushback from Musk. Its orchestrated drama. Musk is trying to save face. Hes still a Nazi.

...his DENIAL of abusing drugs is a LIE.
And the notion that Dems "defecate on him" when they question that drug abuse was offensive to me.
NO POLITICIAN...or in Musk's case, an unelected fanboy wannabe politician...should have a "litmus test" that forgives all of their bad behavior. "Oh, we can't talk about Musk's drug abuse, because 2 out of 10 times, he doesn't kiss Trump's ass..."
Nope. That doesn't work for me.

(261 posts)Everything they do is either for money or power. Trump is raising taxes on EV research and development, which will affect Musk's bottom line. That is why Musk spoke out against the bill.

(21,791 posts)We've come to expect "revisionist history in real time" with Trump. I never thought it would happen with another high-profile figure, but it's happening with Musk. The media likes to see him as a swashbuckling renegade heroic figure, emerging from the mythical mists/
I see him as a sociopathic, delusional South African immigrant with hair plugs and a drug problem.

(5,030 posts)but very occasionally Lindsay Graham, Matt Gaetz, Ted Cruz, and even Putin have had differences with Trump. So are Democratic politicians and pundits supposed to give them a pass on unrelated illegal/immoral behavior in their personal lives? "Well, Matt Gaetz, you helped to get rid of Kevin McCarthy so have a nice vacation with your high school girlfriend!"

(21,791 posts)CNN traffics in it daily because the channel is being run by 2 billionaire Rupert Murdoch wannabes.
I think that including it in "reporting" IS a dog whistle to the right.

(26,809 posts)I never liked their framing of Democrats in disarray and it was so corporate reporting.

(40,191 posts)... on an otherwise anti-Chump article? I don't know, but it is a possibility. If as you say, Brian Karem has recently written anti-MAGA anti-Chump articles, it's possible that the editors and managers are getting some pushback. Not every writer has exclusive control of their work in some publications.
We've seen this being done in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette which used to be a reliable blue voice in a blue city, until the Block family owners of the Post-Gazette started usurping editorial privileges when Chump came on the scene about 10 years ago.
Maybe something like that happened on this article...
