Steve Bannon (?!) says the only way to "stop the debt bomb" is to raise taxes on the wealthy

Bannon says Musk and Republicans in Congress are lying about the deficit numbers in their budget, and the only way to reduce the debt significantly is to increase taxes on the wealthy: “You’re going to have to raise taxes.”

He takes a few economic positions that sound liberal/leftish but his sincerity is highly questionable. Remember the Nazi's were National "Socialists" - Not. He spent some time with Marine Le Pen and other European right wing figures. Maybe he learned something. Some work colleagues describe him as being "purely Machiavellian".

Trump can't see beyond his own greed and appetites. The super Rich have it made in this country if they don't make cartoon villeins of themselves, which unfortunately for them is Trump's natural tendency. Bannon knows that the right wing populist base will put up with a lot under the guise of culture wars, They will tighten their own belts, but not to the point of stopping all circulation to their legs. Clearly the 1% doesn't need all of the tax cuts Trump is giving them. They could give some of that back, lessen the massive deficit they are about to bequeath to the economy, cut a little less from Medicaid, and possible get away with it electorally. Bannon is smart enough to see that. Trump isn't.
