https://www.rawstory.com/lgbtq-2672250415/Horrific details revealed after 'King of the Hill' voice actor shot to death
Voice actor Jonathan Joss, best known for his role as John Redcorn on the animated series "King of the Hill" and Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation," was killed Sunday night outside of his home.
According to his family, it was part of an ongoing attack.
Joss' husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, wrote in a Facebook post Monday afternoon that the couple had moved, but went back to their old house to check the mail. The reason they needed to move is that the home was "burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire."
Gonzales wrote that, over and over, the couple reported threats to law enforcement, "and nothing was done."

The fire in January claimed the lives of all three of the couple's dogs, NBC News reported.
That was when a neighbor began shouting homophobic slurs and attacked.

Joss' husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, revealed he was present at the fatal shooting and claimed it came after "years of threats" due to their sexuality
Need To Know
Jonathan Joss' husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, released a statement on June 2, claiming the person who shot and killed Joss was "homophobic" and yelling "violent" slurs
Gonzales also alleged that he and Joss had been "harassed regularly" before leaving the area once their house burned down
Joss was pronounced dead on the scene at his property in San Antonio, Texas, on June 1 after being shot during a dispute with a neighbor

My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home, the statement began. That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done.

He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other, Gonzales wrote. I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved. To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family. My focus now is on protecting Jonathans legacy and honoring the life we built together.

(425 posts)Although, hate crimes and fatal neighbor conflicts are nothing new, it seems like the last 9 years of the hate reliant MAGAphone has really emboldened many to rebroadcast that hate in the forms of speech and violence. The fears many have to live with daily is beyond unacceptable.

(37,113 posts)Caballero said Joss had visited his home to retrieve his mail but then "started freaking out" once he saw the remains of his dogs outside his home, which burned down in January. Caballero said she didnt think much of Josss yelling, as he was known to shout frequently in the neighborhood
'
"He would just walk up and down the street...he would just like scream," she said. "He was just very loud, very loud. But we knew how he was, so we wouldn't disturb him. Even if he looked at us, talked mess to us, we just ignored him because we knew that's how he was."
Another neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, also shared a similar sentiment, saying he "wasn't a good neighbor." She said Joss would "always do erratic things in the street" and claimed "he was God." She said neighbors called the police regarding his behavior; however, nothing occurred.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers have responded to Joss' address on Dorsey Drive over 40 times since January 2024, with calls connected to mental health disturbances, disturbance with neighbors, general disturbances, welfare checks and the fire reported in January. Police did not respond to any calls from February 2 to June 1. Neighbors had said he wasn't seen as much on the property after the fire.

(1,639 posts)Something tells me there is more - much more - to the story than the way his husband is describing it. It is tragic that it ended this way but the whole thing sounds like a Joe Tiger series. The guy used to carry around a crossbow? Welfare checks by the police? How did the house burn down? They left the remains of their dogs on the burned property? Were they always screaming at each in public? Really, really weird and tragic stuff. No excuse to murder someone but it will be interesting to hear all the details come out.

(4,026 posts)It's a further tragedy that there was little goodwill for Mr. Joss in the neighborhood due to his behavior. It seems that he wasn't getting the help he needed. And the fact that they weren't even living there when this happened is even worse. Not to mention that the fire that destroyed the house was reported to be a result of Joss' actions.
This is in no way to excuse the murderer, but it seems to be a story about mental illness as it is about a heinous hate crime.

(535 posts)Please, somebody, explain to me EXACTLY why what people do in the privacy of their own homes, is so offensive and insulting to some people that they feel justified in murdering them.
I honestly do not understand. Is it homophobic bravado, fear that you, also, could be one of "them?" Is it your responsibility to correct all the "wrongs" you perceive in this world? Is "live and let live" not a credo you can support? Or possibly you're enraged that there are people out there who love one another despite their not adhering to your rules regarding who's allowed to love and who ought to get murdered for doing so.
Do you feel better for having killed a "sodomite"? Are you some kind of hero for having destroyed a life, a family, a home, innocent pets?
Are you in charge of the world now? And through your actions did you bring joy, peace, love -- to ... anyone?
I feel so sorry for you, because the world can never live up to your "high" standards, and you will always be an angry, unhappy, and fucking stupid asshole!
