My SS gets deposited on the 3rd of the month unless the 3rd falls on a weekend. Since June 3rd is on a Tuesday, I expected it then but it was deposited on Friday, May 30th.
I want this news to be out there to counter the panic I read of here when SS does not arrive when expected, usually with an easily explained reason.
I once read here a couple of months ago where a DUer said his check was always deposited at midnight and it was a half an hour late. It arrived at 1:30 a.m.
I have always thought that if the time came when there was truly something wrong with SS and people were not getting their deposits when they expect them we would be reading here of many, many DUers experiencing that problem, not just a scattered few if even that many.
I also believe that the SSA workers that survived the indiscriminate job cuts deserve a lot of thanks for keeping things running as well as they have. At last I have the confidence that I had for years that my SS money will be deposited each month on time or earlier than expected as it has for many years now. It had become too easy to yield to the paranoia that I would lose the only income I have each month, would be unable to pay my rent and risk homelessness and would be forced to look for any job I could find (fortunately I am in good health and in good physical condition as well).

(1,753 posts)The way prices are, I need every penny I can get. I'm hoping when the deposit actually posts that it's corrected but I'm not holding my breath. Checked the website, which didn't want to accept my log in at first, and it's showing the same amount, no messages or any issues noted.
So, people can be smartasses about this stuff, or they can understand that for many of us, this is the only money we get. It's vital to our survival, it's not some extra cash we fiddle away on bon bons and QVC junk.

Would certainly encourage you to contact SS about any discrepancy - but I will assure you right up front that nobody at SS (including Musk and minions) just unilaterally decided to dock your check by $100 this month.

(14,269 posts)I don’t think he feels he’s being indiscriminately picked on, but only that he has not been paid the correct amount. For years our checks arrived on the promised day for the amount owed. Now after the system has been ransacked, it is disconcerting to all of who are SS recipients.

Also willing to stand with the original OP - in postulating that if this was any sort of systemic or systematic occurrence - we would be hearing about it from thousands upon thousands of skewered recipients, screaming bloody murder, - not only on DU, but everywhere else under the sun. Which leads me to conclude - that it is in all likelihood not happening.
You are, however, completely free to come to your own conclusions ... (either with evidence, or without)
pending for the 3rd of June. That’s how my bank account displays it-pending. My bank started this last fall I believe. Used to be I would see it deposited on the third, nothing about pending.
