The lesson people infuriatingly never seem to master is that there is no creating a police state just for other people. If you create a police state with no due process for immigrants or accused criminals, then that's the system you've created for yourself.

To keep the war they wage going.

(17,406 posts)A police state always ends up policing its own, transitioning from a focus on external threats (immigration crime) to controlling the speech, thought, and behavior of its own citizens. In the end police states cannot tolerate an armed populace, at some point they'll start taking away people's guns.

(21,747 posts)AS WE KNOW, if someone hurts his precious feelings, they go on the list and become "the failing (fill in name)," "no-talent (fill in name)," "not very bright (fill in name)"...
...and, the primary sin someone like Rachel has committed it so LAUGH AT HIS MAJESTY. O'Donnell does it too, but he's much more subtle. He gets a certain smile on his face and lowers the volume of his voice and it is the equivalent of laughing at Trump, so people like that would either go down FIRST, or go down LAST.
CONTEXT: My boss at a major Silicon Valley company was a prince among men. He reported to the director. The guy hated my boss' guts. The company laid off 8500 people. This director did ALL OF THE LAYOFFS in our department and SAVED MY BOSS FOR LAST because he wanted him to have a FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY and believe he "escaped the noose." My boss was also recovering from back surgery at the time so his worry / paranoia / etc as escalated. The director KNEW this, SAVORED THIS, and enjoyed every minute of his little game. This could be described as "Trumpian" behavior, I'd say. The cruelty and the glee that comes from BEING cruel.
