Happened to my mom all the time when she traveled to and from Mexico. She would go with a seniors tour bus out of Los Angeles that did shopping tours to Mexican border towns. Border Patrol would enter the bus on their way back and only ask the seniors who didn't "look American" for papers. They would always ask her. It was humiliating for her. She would of course carry her citizen papers whenever she traveled. At least she was never wrestled to the ground and arrested like this poor guy.
