Some good news from Nebraska

https://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/international/us/democrats-are-slowly-getting-there-heres-an-election-victory-that-could-be-a-big-morale-booster-ahead-of-the-midterm-polls/articleshow/121171248.cms?from=mdr

This may have been posted already. There was another successful election for a Democrat in Omaha Nebraska, a deep red state. The previous mayor who was the longest serving mayor in America, and was a big Trump supporter, lost to to the Democrat by 20 points.

And Mahalo! 😸

Ya we can be sure they never read that or think, erroneously and arrogantly, that they’re immune from the karma they will righteously receive for their hideous actions, but they have begun to learn that lesson so we need to keep teaching it to them because they are very slow learners evidently. All that private pricey education for nothing! Like casting pearls after swine 🐷 Although I have the utmost respect for our porcine creatures to equate such noble animals with these dregs of the universe, so I’ll modify the adage to say “casting diamonds after dung beetles!”🪲 😎
I want to see their sorry asses served to them steaming on the gold platter of an electoral wipeout that exceeds what Roosevelt did to the last group of malefactors of great wealth that tried to destroy our country with impunity!

So let’s all help make it so! ✊🏼

Despite Anti-Trans Propaganda Blitz, Omaha Voters Sent Incumbent GOP Mayor Packing
A conservative PAC falsely claimed that John Ewing, Jr., the city’s mayor-elect, wanted to “transition minors without their parents’ consent.”

Voters in Omaha, Nebraska, decisively elected county treasurer John Ewing, Jr., a Democrat, to be the city’s next mayor on Tuesday — despite a last-minute blitz of Republican anti-transgender propaganda.

Incumbent Mayor Jean Stothert conceded to Ewing on Tuesday night in a historic upset, Omaha news station WOWT reported. Mayor-elect Ewing, who received more than 56% of the vote to Stothert’s 43%, is the first Black candidate elected to the mayor’s office in Omaha history, and will take the oath of office in June.

I live 5 minutes from Nebraska border, 90 miles from Omaha. Unfortunately it's MAGAt country. This is the first I have heard that it was a Democrat who beat incumbent Republican. ALL of the reporting around here I've seen has only focused on 'a black man defeated the first female mayor of Omaha' . I was thinking the former mayor was a democrat too (Omaha is differnt than the rest of the state). Granted, I wasn't following the race at all. I guess they're going for divisive gender/race coverage rather than Democrat beat republican coverage.

My poor, long suffering brother, lives in a similarly ignorant area. I will bet that if I read your post to him, he would say, yes that’s the way they see it.

And p.s., he’s getting out of there. Going to travel the world.

56.9-43.1, or a margin of 13.8, rounded to 14%—not quite the full 20%. Voter turnout was low, especially in heavily Republican West Omaha.
