In the last three presidential elections, either a Democrat or Donald Trump would win the White House and all that goes with it.

Any citizen who understood the catastrophe of a Trump presidency and did not cast their vote to prevent that shares the blame for all that is transpiring now.

Did the "Genocide Joe" crowd actually think Trump would put more pressure on Netanyahu and withold offensive weapons from Israel?

If they believed that, they're stupid.

Even worse if they refused to vote for Joe as a matter of "principle."

Then they can't (or refuse) to see past a righteous cause to the real world consequences of a Trump presidency, not only for Palestinians but for people worldwide. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are not the ones being punished.

Perhaps their protests were more fashion than substance, or they simply won't admit to themselves and others they made a terrible mistake.

Setting them aside, I have to wonder if Hamas anticipated the sustained severity of Israel's response. They had to know Gaza was going to be hit, and hit hard. I surmised their strategy was to garner international sympathy and support. That has materialized, but hasn't changed facts on the ground.

I think it's important to remember the I/P conflict goes beyond the multiple generations of our lifetime. Struggle over the Holy Land spans millenia. Like Putin, Hamas desires the collapse of the USA as the dominant nation on the world stage. Without US financial and military aid, Israel's position is considerably weaker.

Hemmed into an open air prison (somewhat of Hamas own making) their desperate position called for desperate measures. Their long term goal (which I do NOT support) is the destruction of the Jewish State, which of course means eliminating or driving out the Jewish people.

Now Trump says he will force an exodus of Palestinians from Gaza. Is the "Genocide Joe" crowd proud of that? I give them no credit for understanding real geopolitics, or having the maturity to see past their own personal passion.

Joe was carrying out commitments made to Israel (not Netanyahu) and was being influenced strongly by Harris and no doubt, AOC and Bernie to help Palestinians in the grip of Hamas.

It was MORE THAN OBVIOUS that the alternative to Joe and Kamala was the assured destruction we see of Gaza.

I've been a DU member more than 23 years, but don't recall EVER seeing a legitimate member of this community urging to vote against the Democrat in a general election.

Heated arguments regarding the qualities and policies of Democratic candidates and office holders, but criticism isn't the same as witholding a vote.

For all of the idiots who voted for trump or did not vote because of Gaza, this is a big FAFO

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/trump-administration-working-plan-move-1-million-palestinians-libya-rcna207224
The Trump administration is working on a plan to permanently relocate up to 1 million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Libya, five people with knowledge of the effort told NBC News.

The plan is under serious enough consideration that the administration has discussed it with Libya’s leadership, two people with direct knowledge of the plans and a former U.S. official said.

In exchange for the resettling of Palestinians, the administration would potentially release to Libya billions of dollars of funds that the U.S. froze more than a decade ago, those three people said.

No final agreement has been reached, and Israel has been kept informed of the administration’s discussions, the same three sources said.

The State Department and the National Security Council did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
