A showdown unleashed by Trump's outrage is coming

The showdown is nearly upon us.

Friday the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump regime cannot deport a group of Venezuelans while the matter is being litigated in the courts. The regime can’t merely allege that they’re members of a violent gang; it must give them sufficient time to challenge their deportations. And it can’t merely assume that the 18th-century Alien Enemies Act gives it authority. Both the facts of these cases and the law have to be hashed out in lower courts.

The justices called the detainees’ interests “particularly weighty” because of the risk of removal to a notorious prison in El Salvador where the migrants could face indefinite detention.

Score a big one for the rule of law.

Of course, Justice Samuel Alito dissented, joined by Clarence Thomas. The two have moved so far into the dense fog of irrational right-wing legal blather that they have lost all credibility.

The big news is that the three Trump appointees — Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett — joined the chief justice and the three Democratic appointees to set a limit on Trump.

2. Didn't Trump already say he doesn't have to do what they say?

He claimed any SCOTUS decision against him is "illegal".

To claim a court ruling by the US Supreme Court is “illegal” is the height of arrogance and/or stupidity.

Bullies are cowards and usually have idiot flunkies to do their fighting for them. The SCOTUS will be asking for more money for security every month.

3. "Score a big one for the rule of law"? Trump ignores this ruling, as he has others. Now what?

I don't believe the rule of law, which our Supreme Court has degraded with very strange interpretations, is going to stop the Trump onslaught against regular folks.

Trump will ignore any law he doesn't like, he will fire patriots trying to do their jobs with integrity, he will soon be locking up judges, congressmen, and agency personnel. He will rig elections or refuse to respect the results. He and his oligarch puppet-masters will loot our Treasury, destroy our democracy, and stomp on our rights.

No piece of paper from a judge or strongly worded letter from a Senator is going to stop him.

This is a whole new ballgame, and our team don't seem to realize the rules have changed.

... come to terms with the fact that these motherfuckers don't give a happy rat's ass about the Rule of Law, Supreme Court decisions, honesty, decency, or anything the Constitution says. This is a rogue regime that recognizes no limits on its power or its corruption. The bought-and-paid-for M$M is worthless; they refuse acknowledge the horrific enormity of what is happening right before their eyes. The shitheel conservatives on the Supreme Court that stupidly said the Orange Gargoyle could not be held accountable for any crimes he commits in the course of his duties as president, which is a vague loophole big enough to drive a Tesla through.
Trump, and his hand-picked sycophants, are psychotic monsters hell-bent on gutting democracy, eliminating any and all agencies that provide for the general welfare of working people, and destroying America by making it a pariah on the global stage, which, incidentally, is exactly what Putin told them to do.
Strongly worded letters are a fucking joke to them – and to everyone else – and they don't think we have the balls to go toe-to-toe with them. Let's make them change their minds, shall we?

Bribes in the form of gifts for the purpose of supporting far-right wing agendas weigh heavily in the decisions they make.

Of course the Repugs will do nothing to protect our Constitution even though they swore oaths to it.

9. (Sigh of relief) SCOTUS and the non-MAGA courts are our last bulwark against the forces of fascism.
