Ernest Owns a Tesla -- He Had No Idea That 10-Year-Olds Would Laugh and Humiliate Him Like This

File under FAFO

https://indiandefencereview.com/ernest-owns-a-tesla-he-had-no-idea-that-10-year-olds-would-laugh-and-humiliate-him-like-this/

When Ernest attempted to open the front trunk, commonly called the frunk, to retrieve his son’s baseball equipment, he found it would not open. The vehicle’s latch was stuck, preventing access to the gear.
...

The situation worsened when the Cybertruck went into limp mode after detecting the frunk was not fully closed. Limp mode severely limits the vehicle’s speed to 15 miles per hour (about 24 kilometers per hour), restricting its movement. Ernest explained the predicament: “So, while I had problems driving to the game, I was now only allowed a maximum speed of 15MPH.” This left him stuck, unable to quickly resolve the situation or safely drive the vehicle to the service center.

...

After multiple attempts to troubleshoot, including screen resets and power shutdowns suggested by Tesla support, the Cybertruck ultimately had to be towed on a flatbed truck. Ernest recounted the moment: “I ended up with a $50 Uber bill, and 28 ten-year-old kids went from thinking the Cybertruck was the coolest vehicle to pointing and laughing as it was towed away on a flatbed truck.” The public nature of the breakdown turned the vehicle from a source of pride to an object of ridicule in front of the children.

...

The latch mechanism itself was faulty, making remote or manual power-assisted solutions ineffective.

I had the same problem with a storm door today, cost of about $100 new, and it's on the lee side of the house, so I can do just great without it.

I can’t imagine it feels good to anyone who bought the thing because they thought it was cool.

Here in Germany, people have a thing about their cars, maybe because they are such a huge part of local industry.

Whatever the reason, if there are any of them on the road here in the Rheinland—the most populous part of Germany, by the way—their owners have been successful in hiding them from my prying eyes, as well as those of any of our friends.

I predicted a failure of a sort for 2025.

Here are the predictions

And specifically for Tesla, this one:

2025 Fearless Prediction Number 2. America loses war with Canada when CyberTanks are bricked with a software update.

Note the similarity to the above-mentioned laughing stock.
