We were private pay but so many of the residents were on Medicaid. The state turned it off and immediately meds, depends, special care givers and monthly fees stopped coming in to the facility. That place went to a dead stop with the manager big eyed as to what the end of the month would bring! Trust me killing Medicaid kills nursing facilities and assisted living care for everyone. They simply will not exist on private pay patients. We were writing the big check but the care was just not there. Grandma and grandpa will be coming home to a living room near you! Those with no family…it’s not going to go well. 😢

From what I’ve read, this shit has opened the eyes of voters before. They’re compelled to see, hear, and understand how bad things get when you cut taxes to help those who don’t need any help. Even with some dreaded tax increases, they’d still do just fine.

This was 2009/2010 in Idaho. I imagine state by state people have been getting a small taste of how this works. The politicians heard from the people and businesses in quick order and found a better way of thinking. It was a giant mess that could have taken businesses out in less than a month!

If they start getting the idea that the voters don’t want it, they’re not as likely to try to shove it down our throats anyway.

Eventually at least some of ‘em start noticing the writing on the wall, and start realizing who they really work for. But that realization only comes when We the People really make a stink about it. And it might also get through to them when their pals and allies in Congress (and elsewhere) start struggling to stay in power or disappearing because they got voted out.

I don’t care who it is - from the Oval Office down to the local city official. Our “leaders” are really our FOLLOWERS. In office because We the People put them there.

That’s Reason #1 why we all need to keep and eye on our officials and make sure they’re doing what we want. After all, WE’RE the ones who put them in office and what the Voters giveth, the Voters can take away.
