Do people have to DIE before something positive is done with the airlines?? damn.

Oh my God. In confirmed audio, Trump's Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says he switched his wifes flight due to fear: "My wife was flying out of Newark tomorrow. I switched her flight to LaGuardia. Zero confidence in his job. He must resign.

https://x.com/the_coolwayIf the secretary of Transportation deems an airport too unsafe for his wife to fly, and arranges a flight from a different airport, then he has a DUTY to inform the public or SHUT THE AIRPORT DOWN.
You can try to spin it any way you want in your convoluted MAGA logic, but it's a form of corruption, plain and simple.ne/status/1922104074339557865

(37,537 posts)This is a dense state. Especially in the proximity of that airport. It will be horrific if a plane goes down for the place where it lands.
Tin Foil Hat - I really truly believe this is deliberate by this Admin. It's like they are trying to balance this year's NJ Trifecta race by creating an incident which shocks people. What does Naomi Klein say about the Shock Doctrine?
They are punishing us for being a big, beautiful, blue state. I wouldn't even want a plane to go down at Bedminster. I know too many folks in Basking Ridge, Bedminster, Warren, etc. etc.

1 day agoSEAN DUFFY: It is. So that's I fly out of Newark all the time. My family flies out of Newark. And just when - when - when we saw these two

(38,228 posts)If you booked your flight after May 6, you can switch flights for free (including a waiver of price increases). It's not like this is some secret - nor is it like this is a new problem.
It has been made worse with DOGE cuts to FAA, but the aging air traffic control system has been an issue for a long time, as has the shortage of air traffic controllers since the last systematic cut.
Newark is a particular problem. I have a flight through there almost exactly a month from now - and as soon as they open the opportunity to change flights to go through another airport I will - rather than risk a landing and takeoff from Newark.

(20,245 posts)But that has diddly squat to do with the fact this MAGAt asshole was telling the public the airport is safe while quietly changing his wifes flight. That was the point of the OP, not the minutiae of Uniteds booking process.

Nothing nefarious about that.

(6,303 posts)Now, our fear is due only to Mr. trump's incompetent administrative bungles. By the end of the year, airports will close. By the end of his administration, the freight industry will be thanking him for the gift of making rail popular again.

Republicans love to whine about the 'elites' and here's Duffy.
