Attorney General Pam Bondi gave President Donald Trump the green light to accept a $400 million flying palace as a gift from Qatar.
ABC News reported that the Qatar royal family is planning to gift Trump a Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet ahead of his big trip to the Middle East, where he is expected to visit Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar to secure economic agreements.
Sources told ABC that Trump will utilize the jet until just before the end of his presidency, when it will be transferred to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation.
Although gift exchanges are common between heads of state, the legality of such an arrangement is murky given that the Constitution prohibits federal officials from receiving personal gifts from foreign heads of state without the consent of Congress.

(25,506 posts)Throughout the Trump executive branch no way at all. I mean, what worker won't understand why corruption is good for Trump, bad for me. Particularly after he explained you take the gimmie putt. Take it. Take it.
So corruption will remain low as no one dare call it corruption.

trump will likely have to turn it over to National Archives and Records Admin like Obama did with $1.3 M in Saudi jewels gifted to President Obama, First Lady, and their daughters. They cannot keep it legally. trump will have a hard time walking away with a plane that has to be registered as a gift.

The State Department keeps the registry of gifts. trump will have a hard time hiding a plane, although Im sure hell try.
The items must be later turned over to the National Archives and Records Administration, or the recipient can pay the market value of the gift and keep it.

(6,006 posts)Trump can't read or write so there won't be a lot of papers in his presidential library. It will become a major grift operation and this luxury plane would be a major attraction.
