My prediction as to how this all ends.

At some point protests will begin in the streets. Probably limited at first to hundreds, or thousands. There will then be counter protest by Magas, which will no doubt lead to violence. This in turn, I believe, will lead to ever increasing protests with huge amounts of people in the hundreds of thousands or millions across the country. Magas will not have the numbers to counter this movement, which I believe will consist of the 75% of the country who are not trump cultists. At some point trump will be forced to call a massive military response. When that happens is when we find out what the US truly is. Will the military follow trump's orders, or will they stand down? Could be some of both, but the outcome will be decided by the which way the majority of the military goes.

Then either trump will resign in disgrace, or be forced out along with his corrupt administration. Luckily I'll be watching from Mexico where I've resided for the past ten years. Tienes suerta amigos.

Tuberville held up military promotions of generals so Trump could fill them with sychophants. Fortunately, pressure caused Tuberville to give up the ruse after a year. One hopes none of our current generals are not Mike Flynn wannabes.

Noisy and angry, but peaceful. And our opponents paid no attention, just went on with their war or plans to oppress women, or whatever their agenda was at the time.

Here’s the difference with Trump this time: he glorifies violence, he wants violence, and the only thing that kept him from ordering “his” US Army to mow down all the protestors in DC the last time was that there were serious Generals like Millie.

This time, I have a sick feeling that he will order his “army” of violent insurrectionists (that he released from prison, so sworn to him personally) to mow down crowds of protestors.

Trump’s not going to resign — he’s too useful as a figurehead to Project 2025 and the Billionaire Boys Club. Musk is rampaging all over the place, you may have noticed, and he was not elected and he can’t be fired. Also, Trump is insane at this point — but as I said, he’s useful.

He has a sympthetic military (rank and file).
He has sympathetic police forces.
He has "Little Green Men" from ICE, Bureau of Prisons, Federal Marshalls.
He has militias just itching to use their private armories.

I hate being this pessimistic, but a successful "Blue Revolution" in the street is unlikely.

You might be right. I get that you still care.

But please remember that many people see the threats (and have for some time), who feel the fear intensely, yet have no means whatsoever to leave this country as you have--and are simply going to have to live through it. You are not one of them, and you feel rightfully lucky in that. But please don't add to their anxiety and fear by stressing this. They are not stupid and most did nothing to enable any of this to happen. They are trapped in a situation not of their own making.

I had played professional basketball in Guadalajara in 1973, loved the people and climate and asked the wife if she'd want to try it out.

LOL. I doubt I'm adding to anyone's stress or fear. As you say, they are not stupid and I'm certainly not blaming most, except those who didn't care to vote.

I have friends and family that I love in the US and care what happens. I'm just expressing an opinion on what I fear may be coming.

And Trump will simply send out the military to end protests if they do occur.

20 years ago (he now in his mid eighties) told me he thought eventually there would be another civil war in our country sooner than later. He was retired from the military-army. I always felt he leaned more democrat than republican, but more likely independent. I never asked him, and don’t really want to know. I do have great respect for him though.

Disagree.

Trump will remain until January 20, 2029 – extremely unpopular and despised, his ‘presidency’ as much a failure as his first, remembered as the worst president in US history.

The only question is: is this just America’s four year fling with fascism or is American democracy permanently gone.

Looting, food lines, and the complete collapse of the travel sector, service sector, energy sector . . . So Trump is going to have to work hard to top that. But he is on a nice track to do that. Because he is amazingly stupid and criminal.

I fear it may be inevitable - UNLESS trump tarnishes his name so thoroughly that even Repubs don’t want nothing to do with him.

It happened after Nixon, albeit very briefly. Cuz we had a brief break with the brief era of President Ford. Then Ford failed to earn a four-year term of his own, and Jimmy Carter and the Dems took the White House. And with that, we had a brief break for honesty and sanity… before fucking Reagan came to power in 1980 and threw it all away. That slick Hollywood schtick just bowled everybody over.

😔😬😖

Well, ALMOST everybody.

Watch the unemployment numbers. That will be the driving force in any widespread political unrest. And when tariffs take hold, THAT'S what will happen. And it's all by design in the short term. And as expected, Trump doesn't prepare for the long term, so he's laying the groundwork for social conflicts that will spin out of control.

one day Trump and Musk will be dead, as is true for everyone. The question being, by the time that happens will it make any difference.

Even now MAGAts are putting into place notions of a third term, are working to entrench a one party, far reich, fascist rule.

Working to invalidate the vote (as they are now doing in NC) and at establishing a government of loyalists further empowered by a corrupt judiciary.

So, all considering, there are FEW ways something like that could end. And none of them pretty.

Besides, America HAD chances to "end" it. In November of 2016, immediately after January 6, 2021, and on November 7th.

Our present day hellscape is the one most Americans CHOSE to happen, or worse still, chose to LET happen.
