One thing I followed was the guardian. Little did I know I'd get tons of articles about football and troubles in small British towns that I'd have to plow through before I'd get to things I'm interested in.
It's a little over whelming.

You can search for local electeds and candidates, local media, etc on BlueSky. ( They aren't all there.)
I can get NBC stuff just about anywhere, anyway.
