Axios: New administration offers to pay federal workers who resign by Feb 6

Scoop: Trump offering buyouts to all federal workers, source says

The White House will issue a memo Tuesday afternoon offering to pay federal workers who don't want to return to the office through Sept. 30, as long as they resign by Feb. 6, an administration official tells Axios.

Why it matters: It's an acceleration in President Trump's already unprecedented purge on the federal workforce.

What they're saying: "The government-wide email being sent today is to make sure that all federal workers are on board with the new administration's plan to have federal employees in office and adhering to higher standards. We're five years past COVID and just 6 percent of federal employees work full-time in office. That is unacceptable," a senior administration official tells Axios.

One thing that is so clear if you read the stories and comments on r/fednews is that virtually nobody said they would resign. They would wait to get fired so they could apply for unemployment insurance, retain standing for any future lawsuits, etc...

I would agree. Preserve your status for future lawsuits.

2. Who's the idiot that thinks so many Federal employees telework or work from home because it was put in place

during COVID? Telework amongst the Federal workforce has been extremely widespread for at least 10 years, probably longer. It was proven long ago that it saved money and increased productivity to allow telework by many Federal employees. So, of course, since it's hugely successful, Republicans insist on stopping it. Republicans hate government so they can't allow government to do things that actually work well.

They'll be the most experienced workers. They will take their knowledge with them. Then the federal government will be on the hook for their pensions, plus the salary of any replacements they hire. Who would want to take a job in the federal government with Trump at the helm? Not me!

driving down wages do to massive competition in the workforce. We must remember that the uber rich make most of their fortunes during economic downturns which is one of their goals.

Like well-paying union jobs with good benefits, a source of envy and hatred. The idiots want to tear others down they perceive as having "unfair" advantages instead of lifting all boats to make life better for all. Misery loves company, that's who they are.
