The White House Press Secretary doesn't know. Let that sink in for a moment. She'll get back to you. And now it's coming out that the portals are already down in all 50 states. Wish she's been called out on that on live TV. The press needs to get on this immediately.
From what I saw of the press conference (I could stomach very little) Peter Alexander was taking on kind of a Jim Acosta role, and I appreciated his pointed questions. He even interrupted her when she wasn't answering. Don't know how long he'll keep it up but it was good to see.
Still, no answer to a major question that impacts millions of people's lives. Unbelievable.
Think. Again.

(13,783 posts)Which means doctor's offices can't check status or make new appointments for patients, potentially turning them away. Or patients getting a prescription filled will be turned away or denied.
Because that's the way Medical and insurance in the US is handled.
ERs will probably continue to see patients, and perhaps some Urgent Care Clinics, but not pharmacy. And not a whole lot of doctor's offices or clinics.
For instance, someone walking into (or being transported to) one of those commercial dialysis clinics that take Medicaid, someone who is expecting to get time - critical care won't.
In effect, just now, from this moment on, they're probably killing or causing the deaths of close to 1000 people, if not more, who thought they had insurance coverage.

Do they put them out on the sidewalk when they realize none of her remaining living relatives have the means to make up the shortfall nor the ability and skills to care for her in our homes?

(25,994 posts)and she works but doesn't make enough for Obamacare so she is on Medicaid. Damn, I hope it doesn't affect her, or affect anyone for that matter.

(1,815 posts)And by the way, approximately 20,524,000 people are enrolled in Marketplace ACA plans. Oh, and according to the CMS, approximately 68 million people are enrolled in Medicare.
That's a total of 167,832,002 people who have health insurance provided by, or subsidized by, the federal government, or approximately half of the entire U.S. population.
Are Trump & Co. going to try to shut this all down?
