He said he was traveling through his state and noticed and could feel the fervor for Trump and said the support for him was very real and intense especially after Trump was shot.

So it seems he’s catering to those in his state as some kind of show of being their leader. That’s the best I can do in figuring out why he’s catering to the right wing fringe instead of the left wing fringe he seemed to start with and who pushed for him over Conner Lamb who was condemned as a normal type I.e., centrist.

Even though he lives in the same neighborhood as one of my friends, I was skeptical of him. I thought he was a good guy, just not Senator material. But, a lot of folks on DU loved his populist message, and preferred him over Lamb. (Who, I admit to being partial to because he was from my former home district in northern Allegheny County.)

When he won PA, not a single one of those posters came back in the thread and apologized.

assaults, several deaths as a result of the attack, 1000+ convictions, long jail sentences.

And they only protest pardons for those who attacked police. That's not to minimize those attacks, but there was so much more crime that day, and this resolution looks past it. We're neutered. We doth protesteth too little.

he stated that "of course I have empathy for their injuries" - that being the case, then why did he not vote on the resolution?

I think it is this simple - he cares more about not alienating any voters that he cares about the country. That is the sickness that so many politicians have these days.

I don't think that it is wrong in trying and work with those you disagree with, but if don't approve of what Trump is doing - then just say it - don't be a coward.
