Regarding the First Amendment and Politics as Usual-
Business as usual is not going to work. Trump has already called the Press "The Enemy of the People". He is going to try and shut down the media and he will probably arrest any members of the media that speak out against him. But they MUST speak out against him NOW before the Press is silenced.
Any attempt to shut down the Press or to arrest a Member of the Press is ILLEGAL and UNCONSTITUTIONAL. It is a violation of the First Amendment (Freedom of the Press) and the Fourth Amendment (Illegal search and seizure, ie an illegal arrest). Trump and his Regime are in VIOLATION of the Constitution. Trump has rendered his authority null and void. He has taken an Oath to defend the Constitution and he has REPEATEDLY violated it. Trump's Presidency has therefore been rendered illegal and is in violation of the Constitution.
All Blue Patriots who took an Oath to defend the Constitution must act now to defend it. Any member of the military or law enforcement that is given an ILLEGAL or UNCONSTITUTIONAL order must resist such an order. Resistance of an illegal order is itself legal. Execution of an illegal order renders one's authority null and void. Any soldier or cop that executes an illegal order no longer has any authority.
In any case, a neutral Press in the face of a Fascist Regime is not going to work. The FACT is that this is an UNCONSTITUTIONAL REGIME and the Press MUST report that BECAUSE IT IS A FACT. Hiding behind a cloak of neutrality is cowardice and if the entire Press does it then the Country and the Constitution are doomed. Now is the time for true patriots to stand up and fight back, loudly and in the Media BEFORE the Press is silenced by this ILLEGAL FASCIST REGIME--- THE PRESS MUST SPEAK UP NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

(675 posts)As far as the Supreme Court's ruling that a President can not be prosecuted for "official acts". No unconstitutional action can be official by definition. The President can not make the law. The President may only execute laws established by the Constitution and the Congress. He is bound by the Constitution and the law. Any action that violates the Constitution is illegal and no illegal action may therefore be considered "official". No Imperial Presidency. So, if the President violates the Constitution he is in fact committing "high crimes and misdemeanors" and is subject to impeachment under the law. Furthermore, since his illegal and unconstitutional actions are not "official acts" he is not protected by the Supreme Court's ruling that a President may not be prosecuted for official acts.
