found this "cover your tracks tool" online. Tested my browser-- protection good. i started tool, my screen flashed a couple times but i let it go as the indicator bars showed tool was underway. When it was done it gave me my grades. courtesy of Electronic Frontier Foundation

Our tests indicate that you have strong protection against Web tracking.

(8,831 posts)3. Not sure if I trust that. I have a VPN and it gave the same results when it was off and on.

however I did notice changes in time zones which i believe are vpn related (multi-hop).. and could reduce "fingerprinting" ... there's a lot more I need to learn about in the detailed results... for now I'm good with what i know
