I honestly believe he's in panic mode, shaking in his elevator footwear...
He thought he was going to lose the election and had a big plan to contest the results and maybe stall the trial dates some longer, maybe even get his lawyers to pull some kind of rabbit out of the hat.
He lucked out in the first term; made it through 3 years of fantastical propaganda and sh!t show big talk with no results. No serious issues to deal with. The fourth year and Covid, revealed his incompetence and indifference to the public and the world...
Now, he's inheriting some serious situations, requiring strong leadership skills and worldly intellect, neither of which he possesses. His historical behavior has always reflected his sense of being...the more insecure he is, the more distraction and chaos he propagates. And he's been propagating in high gear for several weeks.
He knows Biden did a good job and that Harris would have done likewise. He knows he's didn't pick up a substantial number of voters and is stuck with pleasing the same group of hard-to-please supporters. He was elected to lower the cost of groceries and deport a bunch of immigrants, and has already walked back on those promises.
The only thing he might have going for him is the idea of succeeding with the oligarchy or just get Hegseth to implement a martial law declaration.

(25,671 posts)I think that Putin placed Elon Musk as Trump's shadow. I believe that Musk will hold Trump accountable if he goes against Putin's wishes.
We shall see who wins the fight between Bannon and Musk, my money is on Musk.
Putin will allow Trump to grift all he wants, but Putin will make the big decisions, enforced by Musk.

(7,623 posts)it's that now he has to deliver for Putin. We're fucked. Ukraine and Poland are fucked. Immigrants are fucked.
The GOPs are all in on the gutting of democracy. As are a working majority of the electorate. America grew fast because of racism. It's going to fall fast for the same reason. Don't kid yourself.

That's an interesting point of view. I know the possible beginning of the end is racist driven but never thought about it as a stimulus for growth.

(6,800 posts)The south's cotton economy was a large part of the expansion of American power, but I would assert that the handwriting was on the wall for the southern slave-labor agricultural model once the Industrial Revolution reared its head.

(22,476 posts)Blah, blah, blah and by the end of the year he will be golfing. He wanted and lusts for the title of president. The actual job he has no interest in. He will fake being president like he faked being a wealthy business man on his TV show. Apparently people bought the t-shirt in his first term, so why would he plan on changing.
Now his cabinet of horrors . . .

This is what makes Trump so dangerous, consistent with his incompetence and being unfit to be president.

(4,977 posts)Looks to me like he's enjoying the power and patronage, back as the host of his national reality show.
I don't think he cares one bit about the country. It's just a game to him, and the game can be just as fun when the plot darkens for the audience.
