I had no symptoms at all / ever. The only reason I took a covid test was because i had some about to expire and I had a dental appointment coming up. After I tested positive I went to a walk-in clinic and was tested again and given Paxlovid.
Never had any symptoms.
I believe I had 8 shots all together for covid.

Was quite sick, took the Paxlovid, got Covid Rebound and was sicker than with the original covid.
Took two months to get back to 100% feeling better.

But just found out today I have some long Covid problems.
I have always had normal cholesterol and inexplicably shot to a very high number in
recent blood work.

I exercise every day, eat mainly protein and fruits/veggies.
Do not smoke or drink.
And I am low to normal weight.

I did some online research and found out that this is a symptom of long covid.
So now I am on a meds to bring the cholesterol down.
Other than that I feel fine now.

9 vaccinations.

I've had COVID twice - long COVID after the first one. Most of the identified problems have resolved. The one continuing problems - blood glucose is higher and less predictable. I used to be able to control it very precisely with diet - now it is all over the place.

Pretty sure I've been exposed at least twice this week. On Monday I was told one of my professors had COVID so I shouldn't expect to see him this week . . . but I've seen him twice. I'm still masking virtually all the time, so I'm relatively safe. But I hope we aren't starting a little wave through the school.

And - I am expecting to be told I shouldn't continue to vaccinate (I get a month of severe headaches after each vaccination - the last one sent me to the ER).

It contains added adjuvants - and I already have a wack-a-doodle immune system. Both autoimmune disorders and immune deficiencies. Currently, I react very strongly to vaccines (not just COVID). I've run a 103 temp for several hours after the last several I've gotten. I've fount mixed reviews about the comparative heart risk between the two types of vaccine - but that is an issue because I've had a lifelong heart murmur and am at risk for cardiovascular disease. (I know the risk is higher from COVID than from the vaccine - which is part of why I've had 9 vaccinations already. But the issue here is whether I can continue to live with spending two months a year largely in bed with my blankets over my head - in between running to worship the porcelain throne.)

When the mRNA vaccines came out, the nitwits claimed people would be dying in droves in six months.

When six month passed, the nuts continued in two ways: a claim that massive deaths were being covered up, but showed up in statistics, and separately that the mass die-off would be in full swing after 3 years. When you look at their statistics, it is not hard to see how they misinterpret them.

It's more than three years now.

Don't waste your time with unscientific nonsense.

If I may ask, how old was he?

My Dad died from Covid complications in 2023. He had recovered from the disease but within a week, his gallbladder literally died (coagualtion issues most likelly) and though they were pumping him full of antibiotics to bring down the swelling for an othroscopy, he went septic within 24 hours. He went within 4-5 days...

I still bllame the fucking Care Facility for not following protocol when they KNEW they had Covid in there. He collapsed outside on the patio and they "lost" him for 30 mns before calling for EMT's when he had the disease... if they had been more careful, maybe he wouldn't have suffered. But then again, memory care IS truly suffering...long and drawn out disaster

He was hospitalized, getting him stable, and was exposed to COVID while in the hospital. He went in yesterday to get a port for chemo - and tested positive for COVID diagnosed with pneumonia and readmitted. The port will have to wait for another day.

I speculated to him that most of his care team probably wasn't masking up, even though he has COVID that he caught while hospitalized the first time. He said it's about 50-50.

So irresponsible.

The staff is overworked and thin in most of these facilities.

While those in direct contact with individuals who need care are dedicated to those under their care, it is the "upper caste" who do everything they can to cut costs. Those who need care suffer, usually in silence.

Most states could care less and do little to ensure proper care. I worked for a few after I got out of the Army (I was a Medical Plt Sgt) and had no problem calling the "powers that be" at the state level. There are some companies that own virtually all of the Care Facilities in a state. It came down to "if you save a dollar, do it."

She didn't want dad's prolonged care to eat up our inheritance... The place had billing and management issues from the get-go. And the staff was lazy at best, not even really overworked, just didn't care enough to make the effort.

I hated visiting him there and the food they served was a fucking joke. We tried to get them to give h8im better options, even went out of our way to buy/provide things he liked because they "said" they would give it to him. The staff put it in their refrigerator instead and they disappeard ...

I'm glad he's crossed over, he didn't deserve that at all. His last year after Mom passed was hell for him, and even with dementia, he was aware enough to know he wasn't home or in a "normal" place...

don't hold your breath waiting for apologies. I had to double-check, make sure I was still reading DU, and had not been accidentally switched to another site.

Since it’s NBD, hopefully you’ll see EVERY SINGLE REPLY to your posts and realize the term “girlfriend” is hilariously innocuous.

The best part is if you continue defending your stance of “girlfriend = romantic partner”, after all of us straight up telling you that that is not necessarily the case, every word you type is wasted. You have a biiiiiiiiiig uphill mountain to climb to convince me you’re not being disingenuous.

The term girlfriend usually means “ frequent or regular female companion in a romantic or sexual relationship”.

And goddamn Trump. I have had a couple of mild run-ins with maskholes. I know I may let loose if it happens again. Very distressing to hear this. So sorry about your friend's husband and so worried for all of us.

I blame him 100%. I'll never forget how he downplayed the entire situation. Let's do some bleach. No need to wear a mask. And so on, and so forth.

Grief is one emotion that is hard to overcome.

My heart goes out to all who have lost a loved one regardless of the initiating circumstances.

55. I lost my wife three years ago, when Covid was just starting...

... She had been battling a brain tumor for more than 15 years. We did two surgeries', Kemo, and Radiation, and every time we thought they finally got it all, it would come back. Her last hope was to try Gene Therapy.... All was going well, until she got a blood clot in the brain, and had a stroke.... (side effect of the medicine from the Gene Therapy)
She went into emergency, and they were not able to remove all of the clot, due to them piercing her blood vessel with the tool they remove clots with... thankfully, she didn't bleed long, but they couldn't get all of it out....
About that time, Covid was ramping up... They closed the hospital to all visitors...
The last time I seen her in the hospital, she was being transferred to a Therapy wing. After 2 1/2 months of not seeing her, because of the Covid restrictions, they realized she would not recover from her stroke, so they sent her home...
I was her soul caregiver all the way to the end. She was bedridden, up to the day she passed.... On February 14, she passed away.
Because of Covid, I was not able to help her in her therapy, visit her, or even just hold her while she was in the hospitals.
I have learned to accept things out of my control, but I know that she is no longer suffering. Life is pretty lonely at times, but I know that we will be together again, someday.
Give your friend a hug, and let her know that in time, the pain will subside, she will find things that make her happy, it just takes time. The loss can never go away, but if we hold them in our hearts and minds, this is how we honor them...

Covid will forever be known as the time where the genius of science was met by the ignorance of social media users creating one of the greatest self owns in human history.
