Mayor Adams to visit trump
I attended a hearing on immigration held by NYC's City Council. The theme: what is the city doing to prepare for the implementation of trump's anti-immigration policies and how will it protect NY's immigrant community. On the hot seat: the Commissioner of the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs and his staff. The council members did a very good job of questioning them and raking mayor adams over the coals for his willingness to work with trump and his hinting at the possibility of weakening our status as a Sanctuary City. The fear among the immigrant community which was out in full force at the hearing, was palpable. They are scared shitless. With good reason. And what is adams' response to this fear? Breaking news:
"Mayor Eric Adams of New York City was on his way to Florida on Thursday evening to meet with President-elect Donald J. Trump at Mar-a-Lago, his spokesman confirmed.
The meeting did not appear on Mr. Adams’s public schedule.
“Mayor Adams has made quite clear his willingness to work with President-elect Trump and his incoming administration on behalf of New Yorkers — and that partnership with the federal government is critical to New York City’s success,” Fabien Levy, the mayor’s spokesman, said in an email.
Mr. Adams, a Democrat, has drawn criticism from members of his party for appearing to cozy up to Mr. Trump. And while Mr. Adams has expressed a desire to work productively with the incoming administration, critics have suggested that his warmth toward the president-elect masks a different motivation.
In September, Mr. Adams was indicted on five federal corruption charges, part of an investigation that he argues is political retribution for his criticism of President Biden’s immigration policies. Mr. Trump has publicly commiserated with Mr. Adams and seconded his depiction of a Justice Department run amok. Mr. Adams has expressed openness to the notion of receiving a presidential pardon."

Law enforcement has uncovered “additional criminal conduct” by Mayor Eric Adams, the U.S. attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York said in a new court filing.
Prosecutors didn’t specify what that conduct was. But in a memo filed on Monday night, they said officials have uncovered more crimes and more people who allegedly helped the mayor to carry them out. The U.S. attorney’s office filed the memo in response to the mayor’s request for more information about the evidence in his criminal case.
The memo provides new details about the large swath of materials prosecutors have gathered during their investigation, including financial records, messages between alleged co-conspirators and documents from Turkish Airlines.
Prosecutors said they have also gathered records from Adams’ 2021 and 2025 mayoral campaigns. So far, Adams has only been charged with misconduct in relation to the first race.
