With the Carrie Underwood brouhaha it's worth remembering country's most prolific artists were lefties.

The Highgwaymen were Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings. They were lefties. Waylon was apolitical.

Molly Tuttle, Billy Strings…and many others.

The Nashville scene isn’t all Toby Keith and Kid Rock.

country music. New country isn't even country. It is weak pop with a southern accent. Country music has fallen on sad times.

Country musicians, by and large, put out too much music - 2, 3 albums a year during the classic era.

The collaboration between Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, and Dolly Parton was awesome as well.

I've seen posters say that this will take Carrie's career. I'd love for it to, but that's hardly the case. I'd wager to bet 95 percent of her fanbase is conservative. It may even give her a temporary bump since her name will be in the news for a day or two.
