Like many here I would be hard pressed to find the good side of anything right now.
If there is a good side to anything, silver lining to draw hope from, it's in certain state governments, in my case Washington state.
Our new governor, Bob Ferguson and all the other statewide elected officials all took the oath of office today and Gov Ferguson gave his speech before the state legislature afterwards.
All statewide elected offices are held by Democrats. The Democrats control both the House and Senate. And the majority of our state voted for VP Harris. Also voted to keep our state's commitment to climate change efforts as well.
These are all good people doing good government. We have our budget challenges this year but I don't think it's anything we cannot overcome.
So there are silver linings to be hopeful about.
How about you?

(31,577 posts)is much like yours. We have a super majority in state government, statewide offices held by Democrats, and two great Democratic Senators, Duckworth and Durbin. Our governor, Pritzker, is so good that they want to steal him from us to be vice president or president. You can't have him! We need him!
I am glad your state is on the side of the good guys!

(24,410 posts)I'd guess the silver lining is real estate was relatively cheap in NE Fl 40 years ago so we own our house free and clear. I plan to plant some fruiting trees and bushes, and expand my gardening efforts up from just various varieties of tomatos and peppers. My sister is renovating our old house and will be moving in just 2 blocks from us, so that's good. My chronically Herpes infected cat made it through his mouth surgery well and it was an iffy thing we'd put off for years due to the expense. Found a great vet! Son is in rehab with Salvation Army and that's a private organization, I believe. Daughter and her boyfriend are doing well.
Just so glad our kids have old enough to no longer be in school, that would be bad, and no one in the family relies on goverment subsidies at this time. Praying so hard that continues!
