The United States averages 50 times as many gun murders a year as do England, Germany and Japan combined. Firearms owned by Americans give us the distinction of having the highest gun to population ratio of any Nation

The United States, which prides itself on progressivism should have the gumption to take the lead in establishing year round day light savings time.

thought that can't be right

then i read the date. 1971.

oh. okay, makes more sense i guess

ah, 1971 -- i was a tweenager (a rebellious 12 yr old!); it was a good year for me

around april of that year:
what's going on - marvin gaye
never can say goodbye - jackson 5
love her madly - doors
l.a. goodbye - ides of march
me & you & a dog named boo - lobo (my mom really liked that goofy song)
brown sugar - rolling stones

and the highest grossing films in 1971:
love story,
summer of 42
little big man

I was a junior in High School, working at Walmart #6 in Fayetteville Arkansas. Price wars at the gas stations. 23 to 25 cents a gallon. Summer of 42 was awesome as was the book. Loved the Stones, still do with all the new stuff from the 80 year olds, but ZZTops Brown Sugar was, well, ZZTop. Your mom was right about Boo. A belated Happy New Year My Friend.
