I think maybe Bibi was complicit in the arrangement.
My question is who, on the Palestinian (Hamas) side was conspiring with Trump.

Jared had a couple of phone calls with uncle Bibi and worked it out so that daddy Trump would get the credit

but it is appropriate here (ABC didn't listen to Timothy Snyder)

1. Do not obey in advance. Most of the power of authoritarianism is freely given. In times like these, individuals think ahead about what a more repressive government will want, and then offer themselves without being asked. A citizen who adapts in this way is teaching power what it can do.

7. If a Hamas ceasefire is like the Hezbollah cease fire, other than hostages released, it means little.

Granted hostages returned alive and accounting for everyone who died is huge for the families. But other than change in intensity, the fighting at some level will continue, animosity of the parties is as high or higher than ever and the dying will continue on both sides and any real peace remains beyond reach.

Trump's biggest contribution was that he agreed with the basic outline that Qatar, Egypt and the Biden people proposed. This was incidentally the basic outline from at least May.

You could argue that had Trump publicly indicated he agreed with this basic outline, there might have been an agreement then and some hostages killed since May. His then public statements were more like giving Israel carte Blanc to destroy Gaza.
