Woods apparently took fire prevention measures, including a sprinkler system on the hillside and clearing the land. But nothing could withstand a fire like that. Of course, Woods is a terrible misogynist and overall nut, but it’s hard not to have sympathy for people caught in that devastation.

If you do not have a mortgage, there is no requirement for home insurance

MAGA actor James Woods lost his house in the Pacific Palisades Fire.

While I feel sorry for him and anyone who has to go through this horrible wildfire, I do not feel sorry that he didn't bother to have home insurance.

FAFO.

NEW: Woman says her parents’ fire insurance got cancelled shortly before the fires ripped through Southern California.

The woman said she is forced to defend the house herself.

“They got canceled from their fire insurance… They're 90 years old, they've lived in this house for 75 years and they've had the same insurance.”

“And these insurance people decided to cancel their fire [insurance] and we're going through this and it just happened. And they have no fire insurance.”

“So thank you, California insurance companies.”

of course it’s expensive. I’m of two minds here — much like the hurricane-damaged properties in Florida, I’m not sure the wilderness-interface properties are insurable in these conditions.

afford to meet them all; but in this kind of event, I don’t think the hardiest structures meeting the strictest codes are safe. This is a generational weather event.

His is one of many homes destroyed in this disaster. He is no more important than any other person whose home has burned.
